Our Story & SPirit
The story of The Ellis is not about reclaiming a building; it’s about embracing its spirit.
The Ellis began life in 1890 as a church. After weathering many seasons of Newburgh and falling into disrepair, the historic building now begins a new chapter as a vibrant community space.
Once a place of worship, The Ellis continues to serve as a place of gathering — where people come to explore who they are. These walls have heard prayers, songs, whispers, and silence. Now, they will hear stories, ideas, and sounds that stretch the imagination.
Inspired by the philosophy of openness, love, and acceptance, The Ellis is more than a venue.
This is an experiment.
This is reflection.
This is movement.
The evolution of The Ellis is ongoing — an unfolding work of art where the process matters as much as the outcome.
